The ‘Fresh Prince’ Gets A Gritty Reboot In Full Length ‘Bel-Air’ Trailer
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air gets gritty with the new reboot Bel-Air.
“This town will try to make you forget who you are and where you came from. Don’t let it do that,” Jabari Banks as Will is warned by Jazz (Jordan L. Jones) at the start of the trailer.
Bel-Air follows a similar premise, a young man moving from Philly to his uncle and aunt’s mansion in Bel-Air, like the hit ’90s sitcom. But this version, set to be released on Peacock on Feb 13, is a bit more gritty. The original was a 30-minute comedy, but this new version is an hour-long drama. In this version, Banks’ character gets himself in a whole deal of trouble prior to pulling up to the Bel-Air mansion.
The character Will, played by Jabari Banks, who in real-life is a Philly native got the news. Will Smith, of course, played the character in the original and serves as one of the executive producers via his production company Westbrook Studios.
The series will debut its first three episodes on Peacock on Feb. 13, with subsequent new episodes being released weekly on the streamer per Variety.
