Alicia Keys Clarifies Why She Sang “Empire State Of Mind” At The Platinum Jubilee Concert

“FYI: Every song was requested personally by the Queen… Even EMPIRE!!”  Well, that clears that up!

After taking heat on social media for singing “Empire State of Mind” in London at the Platinum Jubilee Concert, Alicia Keys shared this video recap of her experience on Twitter with a message clarifying that the Queen “personally requested” every song she sang, “even EMPIRE!”  In the recap video her son Egypt says, “You can’t refuse the Queen.  That’s against the law.” LOL

 

Here’s Alicia’s full performance that includes her version of “Empire State of Mind” where she changes the lyrics at the end from “New York” to “London.”
