Italian Town Imposes fines For People Wearing Swim Suits
The Summer of 2022 is the season to get away. It is the traveling season. Many people are traveling more because Covid restriction have loosened. People just what to get out and travel after being unable to the past two years. Many are traveling overseas. According to CNBC reporter Greg Iacurci, “The value of the euro relative to the U.S. dollar has sunk near a two-decade low — and that’s good news for Americans traveling to Europe this summer. A favorable exchange rate means travelers’ dollars will go further when making purchases abroad.” If your traveling to Italy and want to wear a bikini or go topless. I would avoid this small town in Italy. The mayor has established a law to prohibit anyone wearing less clothing.
Massimo Coppolah is the mayor of a small tourist town in Italy called Sorrecnto. The town rests on the Sorrentine Peninsula with pristine beaches which attracts tourists. According to CNN reporter Jack Guy, Coppolah has “impose fines on under-dressed people citing concerns over ‘quality of life.'” This was published in a July 6th Facebook post. Fines are between 25 to 500 euros which is 25 to 500 U.S dollars. The Facebook post stated. “No more with the indecent behaviour,” wrote Coppola. “That’s why I signed the ordinance that prohibits people from walking around with a bare chest as well as in swimming suits.” Is Coppolah trying to change behaviors or trying to control women? The only people who walk around bare chested are women. I would avoid this town. Don’t support a man who will fine bare chested tourists. According to Guy, these laws “apply between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. for the entire month of August, plus weekends from June 15 to September 30. Holy Week around Easter, and the dates from April 24 to May 2, are also included.” If you decide to go to Sorrentine be prepared to “cover up.”
