The GetUp Crew

I just got back from an incredible Aruba vacation! I have been there several times and absolutely love it there. The weather is always perfect, the beaches are breathtaking, and the people are friendly and helpful. There’s a reason they call Aruba “One Happy Island.”

The luggage struggle is real

So I usually just pack a carry-on for my flight, even when I spent a week in Hong Kong. But this time, I decided to take a large suitcase and check it. What a mistake. I overpacked so much! Why? Because I tell myself lies like, “I’m going to workout/walk every morning during vacation.” So I packed workout clothes. You know what never got used? Workout clothes. I wasted precious suitcase space. My friend Sara did use her workout clothes and went for a run every morning. I drank coffee and read on the balcony.

Instagram Island

We had a great time! We stayed at the Renaissance Ocean Suites, which has it’s own personal island. You take a boat to the island from the hotel. One side is adults only, and is named Flamingo Beach because there are actual flamingos walking around. The other side is for families. My friend and I called the island “Instagram Island,” because we witnessed so many photo shoots that were definitely being taken for Instagram. It seriously was fascinating to watch.

Look out for the sun!

If you go to Aruba, I will warn you, the sun there hits different. The first day I was there, I slathered on 30-50 SPF sunscreen, and got seriously burned. My forehead currently looks like a patchwork quilt from the peeling. The first couple days were rough since I’m not used to being in the sun so much. I seriously had to spend my third day resting because I was wiped out! Lol
