This Sunday is the Super Bowl of dating apps. It’s been dubbed “dating Sunday” and it’s the first Sunday of the year every year. It’s a day where singles typically will create online dating profiles on different apps and try their luck. The number of messages sent this weekend will be 22% higher than normal. The number of likes will be up 18% and people will respond 19 minutes faster this weekend than any other. So if you’re looking for love, or just looking to hook up, this weekend will be the best one for you to shoot your shot.

Now, choosing a dating site may be a little overwhelming. I’ve done the leg work. I’ve been single for several years and tried almost every dating site there is. Keep in mind, there are VERY specific sites for very specific things. Do you want a relationship? Do you want a hook up? Do you want a friendship? Also, are you looking to pay for love? There are some sites that offer free online profiles and there are some that charge you a monthly fee. It all depends on how serious you are in finding someone. I’m going to run down the sites I’ve tried for you so you can make the best choice of where you want to take your chance.

And when it comes to your dating profile, just be yourself. Don’t try to portray something you’re not. Also, BE HONEST IN YOUR PHOTOS. There’s nothing worse than showing pictures that filter features OR group photos where you can’t tell which person you are in the photo. Also, if you’re lying in your profile, what else could you be lying about? Be charming, funny but most importantly BE YOU! Best of luck looking for love this weekend.

  • Bumble: for women who are bold, looking for either hook ups or relationships

Okay Bumble is a good one. Bumble is “free” but there are tiered subscription services that will allow you more options. On Bumble, women HAVE to make the first move. So women aren’t bombarded by creepy men just looking to have sex.

Bumble | Date, Chat, Meet New People & Network Better

Bumble has changed the way people date, create meaningful relationships & network with women making the first move. Meet new people & download Bumble.

  • Tinder: a hook up app, great for casual chatting

Tinder definitely has a bad rep as far as relationships go. If you’re looking for one, stay off Tinder. If you’re just looking to meet new friends, have casual chats or to have sex, Tinder is for you. It’s free BUT to see top matches you have to pay a subscription fee of roughly $8.

Tinder | Dating, Make Friends & Meet New People

With 55 billion matches to date, Tinder® is the world's most popular dating app, making it the place to meet new people.

  • Hinge: great app for people looking for something serious, professionals

Hinge is the app for meeting quality people in my opinion. It’s “free” but you must upgrade to a paid version if you want unlimited “likes.” The slogan for Hinge is “the app that’s meant to be deleted.”

Download Hinge, the dating app designed to be deleted

Hinge is built on the belief that anyone looking for love should be able to find it. It's also built on an acclaimed Nobel-Prize-winning algorithm, so we can succeed in getting you out on promising dates, not keeping you on the app.

  • OK Cupid: good for both hook ups and serious relationships

OK Cupid is a little more complicated of a dating app. You can message someone you like however they won’t see it unless you actually match with them. There’s a free version available but a paid subscription too. Typically I find there are less quality people here and not as many choices as it’s not really a top tier dating app anymore.

  • Coffee Meets Bagel: relationship type app, sends you potential matches

With this app, it’s more for relationships. You will get matches (bagels) sent to you daily. It also will nudge you and give you ice breakers to make the first move. It is free but there is also a paid subscription that offers more features.

  • Plenty of Fish: NO, just NO...

Plenty of Fish has become the cesspool of dating. It is loaded with ads, scams and viruses. Just don’t. It’s free BUT just not worth it. My dad tried using it and within minutes, his phone was loaded with all kinds of viruses.

  • Match: serious relationships but with a price

The good thing about Match is, it’s for serious daters.  But the consensus is, you need a paid subscription to really find anyone worthy. There’s a free version but you can subscribe for $20 per  month.
