The big day is almost here! St. Patrick’s Day. We’re in Boston so you know it’s THE place to be for all your celebrations. From bar crawls to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Southie, there’s definitely lots to do. And there’s lots to drink too. Bars and restaurants around Boston have lots of food and drink specials to tempt you to come in. We rounded up some of the best lucky libations on the menu around the city.

Everything to know about the parade

The parade starts at 1pm, starts at the Broadway “T” Station in South Boston and ends at Andrew Square. Here’s the parade route from Meet Boston so you can find out where you want to watch from.

Public transportation is always recommended, and the MBTA usually runs rush hour service for the Red Line from 9am to 6pm. Just be advised that trains may bypass Broadway and/or Andrew Station if the crowds there get too big. Buses won’t stop at either of those stations as well at 9:45am, and several routes will be detoured around the parade area. A free shuttle will run between the Summer Street side of South Station and East 1st Street in South Boston. Go to MBTA.com for additional details. And driving is not recommended because there’s definitely limited parking, and street closures.

Popular drinks for St. Patrick’s Day

Want to know what drinks are popular on St. Patrick’s Day? Ask a bartender! VinePair.com asked bartenders what they were drinking to celebrate, and here are some of the ones they recommended the most.

  • Irish-American Coffee
  • Irish Car Bomb
  • Club soda and bitters
  • Pint of Guinness and a shot of Jameson
  • Irish whiskey
  • Tom Collins
  • Frozen Irish Coffee

DISCLAIMER: No matter what you drink, drink responsibly. Legal age to drink is 21. Do not drink and drive.

  • King's Pot O' Gold

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at King’s Dining & Entertainment with some of their drink specials. From March 13th – 17th, you can enjoy either a Pot O’ Gold or a Guinness Old Fashioned. Not sure what’s in that Pot O’ Gold, but I’m down for any drink with a special rim. And you can’t beat a classic Old Fashioned.

  • Boston Burger Company's Pot O' Gold

Had to throw in a non-alcoholic option for the non-drinkers. Boston Burger Company is offering their special frappe during the month of March. And as you can see, this is no ordinary frappe. It’s an Irish cream frappe topped with an Irish cream cake, Lucky Charms, rainbow candy, and gold-covered chocolate candies. So if “over the top” is your thing, this is definitely for you.

  • Lincoln's Celtic Stout Martini

Celebrate at Lincoln’s with their Celtic Stout martini. It’s made with cold brew, Guinness and Jameson. They also have the Irish Maid, and the St. Patrick’s Pick Me Up.

  • Yellow Door Taco's Cucumber Margarita for a cause

If you’re looking for a delicious drink with a little something extra, this is it. When you order Yellow Door Taco’s Cucumber Margarita, $1 from each one will be donated to the Claddagh Fun. It’s a non-profit that was founded by Ken Casey from the Drop Kick Murphy’s. The organization supports community-based non-profits that support children, veterans organizations, and alcohol & drug rehabilitation.

  • Shamrock Boston's Lucky Margarita

Shamrock Boston is ready to serve you your next St. Patrick’s Day favorite. Choose from their Pistachio Martini, Lucky Marg, Whoop Dee Do Basil, and Paddy’s Irish Mule. They have a full bar, and if you’re hungry, they’ll be serving up food as well. Check out their special menu HERE

  • Capo's All Week Drink Specials

If you’re looking for lots of choices in your St. Paddy’s Day drinks, check out Capo’s in South Boston. This restaurant/supper club has some great cocktail specials with interesting ingredients. Orange marmalade, thyme, cold brew, sage, and more. Check out their menu and make reservations HERE.

  • Fat Baby's Shamrock Spritz

Fat Baby in South Boston has a special March Charity Cocktail – the Shamrock Spritz. It has tequila, aperol, orange bitters, tonic, and soda water.
