Local artist and activist Tory Bullock calls for Boston statue to be removed
Calls for a statue in Boston to be taken down. The Emancipation memorial is in Boston’s Park Square between the Park Plaza and the Transportation Building, and is of Abraham Lincoln standing over a black man on his knees. Boston artist and activist Tory Bullock who started the petition to remove the statue, says that while the statue is supposed to represent freedom, to him it represents submissiveness. The petition currently has over 7,700 signatures and has caught the attention of Mayor Walsh who Tory says is willing to talk about removing it. Walsh’s office said he’s interested in recommissioning the statue in favor of a memorial recognizing equality. To sign the petition CLICK HERE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdskuGs2hZI
