My first Bruins playoff game
MelissaMy first Bruins playoff game in pictures is a bitter sweet one. So full disclosure: I am a die hard Boston sports fan. Hockey is my least favorite of all four major sports, HOWEVER, I still love it. I love the passion from the players and the fans. I love the overall grit and balls from the players. I love the game itself. But this is my first time I've ever attended an NHL playoff game in person. Did it live up to the hype? Yes and no.
The energy in the Garden was electric
The minute I stepped foot onto Causeway Street, I could feel the energy from the fans. This town bleeds black and gold and it shows. There were fans packed in the bars and restaurants. You saw the occasional Maple Leafs fan in their blue and white and they definitely took a verbal beating for daring to show their colors in public. When I entered the Garden, after receiving my promotional Bruins yellow towel, I just knew the vibe was different. This was not a regular season game. This was the playoffs.
Not the outcome I had hoped for
The game itself was as exciting and stressful as I had expected. There were quite a few fights which got the crowd even more hyped. The Bruins scored first. Then the Maple Leafs scored seconds later. Then the Bruins scored and then the Maple Leafs scored the final two goals which gave them the win. The bad guys won 3-2. You could definitely cut the tension in the Garden with a knife in the third period. And ultimately, the bad guys won this one. So was the game worth the hype? ABSOLUTELY because I was there. But because the Bruins lost, it was definitely a let down. Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY!
Bruins 1, My first Bruins playoff game. Funny story as I was wearing a Celtics jersey today. When I got last minute tickets, I bought this shirt. I look good and green AND black and gold.

Bruins 2, This was Causeway Street right next to the Garden. There are several vendors set up selling merch. I loved the merch at this vendor. There were several people buying stuff.

Bruins 6, My first seats were in Loge 15. They were amazing. Super close and I got to see warm ups from this awesome section.

Bruins 7, Starting lineups were dramatic. Video tributes played and the crowd was LOUD. Right after this, I was invited into the luxury suite owned by my company Beasley Media.

Bruins 8 This is Blades the Bruin. Blades hangs out in the crowd and hypes everyone up. He's for sure one of the most popular attractions in the Garden.

Bruins 9, First fight of the night. Fights are obviously a part of hockey. The crowd wants them to happen and when they do, it's arguably even better than the game itself.

Bruins 10, I made my way up to the Beasley Media suite. The Beasley suite is up on the sixth floor of the Garden and is stocked with food. You also get a private bathroom.

Bruins 11, Fight number two. This fight like the others was pretty mild. No one got seriously hurt. I think the crowd was mad about that.

Bruins 12, Beasley media suite food. These were Dave's Hot Chicken sliders. DELICIOUS. There were also oysters which I'm not a fan of but the others in the suite loved them.

Bruins 13, more snacks in the Beasley suite. Fun fact, lucky fans get to keep these tins to bring home. The cookies inside were delicious. A great snack throughout the game.

Bruins 14, more snacks in the Beasley suite. Popcorn and cookies were great. There was also chips and dip. The actual food included steak tips and mac & cheese.

Bruins 15, these were the commemorative towels everyone got. When you walked in, you were handed a towel. The crowd was waving these like crazy. I actually left mine in the suite.

Bruins 16, inside the Beasley box. These are all five of our stations. The company has this box for both Celtics and Bruins games and some concerts.

Bruins 17, not the outcome we wanted. Ultimately Toronto just played harder. Final score was 3-2. They'll still win the series.
