New England Chinese food is a thing. There is even a New England Chinese Food support group Facebook page with over 18,000 members. If you try to get Chinese food anywhere else in the country, you’ll be disappointed. There really is nothing like the Chinese food here in New England. And when it comes to Chinese food in New England, there really is one restaurant that is ALWAYS mentioned. Of course, that is the Kowloon in Saugus.
Kowloon in Saugus has been a staple in Massachusetts for decades. It opened in 1950 as The Mandarin House and is owned by The Wong family. People travel all over the country to enjoy food from Kowloon and thanks to a new delivery service, you can now get a delivery from there as far away as California.
The delivery service is called Bamboos Nation Interstate. It is the brain child of Weymouth resident Jim Lawlor and his wife Carol which has gone live as of March 1. Customers can order from any state in America with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii. There is most definitely order minimums which we will get into in a minute. Also, Kowloon is not the only Chinese food restaurant included in the delivery service. There are four area restaurants total. You must allow 3 weeks for delivery too. So this is obviously not meant for people who want to satisfy their Chinese food craving that day. There is a lot planning that goes into this.
