And it is all because of last night's MLB Home Run Derby. Thanks to her, we now have what will go down in history as one of if not the worst rendition of the national anthem ever.
Ingrid Andress sings the national anthem at the Home Run Derby
Last night's home run derby did not disappoint. Teoscar Hernandez of the Los Angeles Dodgers took home the title. He actually became the first Lost Angeles Dodger ever to take home the title of derby champion. But it's what took place before the competition that has everyone talking today. Ingrid Andress is a country singer who was born in Michigan and is 32 years old. She's been nominated for 4 Grammy awards. Before last night, many hadn't heard of her. But her rendition of the anthem is being highly criticized this morning and is making several comparisons to Fergie's rendition at the NBA All Star Game back in 2018. We'll just let you listen to it for yourself.
Now, as hilarious and cringe as this rendition was, the reactions on social media are even more hilarious. We've found and taken some of our favorites to show you. And what do you think? Was Ingrid Andress' rendition of the national anthem really that bad? We'd love to hear your thoughts. In the meantime, let's take a look at some of our favorite social media reactions.
"Made fergie sound like luther vandross"
Ahhh who can forget Fergie's anthem before the NBA All Star game back in 2018? @WWEtrollceo on X says Ingrid "made Fergie sound like Luther." Do you agree?
"sounds like they are playing it backwards"
@gardentime6 on X says it sounds like they're playing it backwards. Yeah, most can agree it really was that bad. But at least for Ingrid's sake, many now know who she is who didn't before.
"did they just grab some random person walking?"
@MarkW_Mead on X asked the question: Did they just grab some random person walking by the stadium and ask if they could spare a couple of minutes? Valid question. But the answer unfortunately is no. That was a serious rendition.
Alec Bohm was laughing!
@CobyValentine24 on X was quick to point out that the players were laughing. In his post: "Alec Bohm couldn’t hold in his laughter on this national anthem lol #HomeRunDerby" He even provided a video of Bohm laughing.
"bringing everyone together"
Well you gotta admit, whatever side of the political spectrum you're on, this is one thing we can all agree on. That's what X user @jarrett_daveler posted. He tweeted: The National Anthem at the Home Run Derby bringing everyone together.
"The national anthem sung by Ingrid Andress has been changed to an error instead of a hit"
@ScoringChanges on X posted: HOME RUN DERBY CHANGE 7/15
