Nature is healing! Sade reportedly has a new album in the works and Twitter is losing its mind. Sade has reportedly been working on the new material at Miraval Studios. This bit of news was revealed in a Billboard cover story about the studio itself, which Brad Pitt owns and co-operates with French producer Damien Quintard. The newly reopened studio—where Sade had previously recorded—is located at Château Miraval, a winery and estate that Pitt bought with Angelina Jolie, his former spouse, in 2012.
Sade last issued an album in 2010 with Soldier of Love. The band returned in early 2018 with a new song, “Flower of the Universe,” which was featured on the soundtrack of Ava DuVernay’s adaption of A Wrinkle in Time. Later that year they released “The Big Unknown” for Steve McQueen’s film Widows. Solider of Love was predeced by 2000’s Lovers Rock, 1992’s Love Deluxe, 1988’s Stronger Than Pride, 1985’s Promise, and 1984’s Diamond Life.
In their career, Sade has won four Grammys and has received nine nominations. Sade won “Best New Artist,” at the 28th Annual Grammy Awards (1986), “Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal” for Promise at the 29th Annual Grammy Awards (1987), “Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal” for “No Ordinary Love” at the 36th Annual Grammy Awards (1994), “Best Pop Vocal Album” for Lovers Rock at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards (2002), and “Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals” for Solider of Love at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards (2011).
