With Thanksgiving being this week, holiday season is in full swing! And Boston is getting ready with various holiday lightings over the next few weeks, beginning late this month and continuing through the beginning of December. Some of them include live music, entertainment, refreshments, kids activities, and even visits from Santa. Check out the full list of all the events coming up in the Boston area below!

  • Christopher Columbus Park Trellis Lighting

    Where: 110 Atlantic Ave in the North End

    When: Monday, November 22nd @ 5pm

    What: According to Boston.gov, Trellis at Christopher Columbus Park “will be transformed into a holiday wonderland when the park’s 260 feet of trellis are set aglow with 50,000 blue lights along with 14 decorated trees near Tia’s restaurant, the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel, and throughout the park.”

  • Lighting of the Ship at Martin's Park

    Where: 64 Sleeper St. Boston, MA

    When: Saturday, November 27th from 4pm-6pm

    What: The first annual Lighting of the Ship at Martin’s Park will include a visit from Santa Claus, who will be arriving by boat, as well as hot cocoa, caroling, and various holiday activities.

  • The Copley Square Tree Lighting

    Where: Copley Square

    When: Monday, November 29th from 5pm-6pm

    What: The Copley Square tree lighting ceremony will be a family-friendly event that will have refreshments, giveaways, and local entertainment.

  • The 80th Annual Boston Common Tree Lighting

    Where: Boston Common

    When: Thursday, December 2nd from 6pm-8pm

    What: The 80th Annual Boston Common Tree Lighting is the city’s main holiday lighting event, with about 25,000 people expected to attend. It will include a “festive stage show with nationally-known talent.” Mayor-elect Michelle Wu, who assumes office on Tuesday, will light the tree, as well as trees on Boston Common and the Public Garden bridge.

  • Commonwealth Avenue Mall Lighting

    Where: Commonwealth Avenue

    When: Thursday, December 2nd at 8pm

    What: The Commonwealth Avenue Mall Lighting will immediately follow the Boston Common Tree Lighting. The city will “hit the switch and celebrate the lighting of trees up and down Commonwealth Avenue,” marking the final holiday lighting event of the 2021 holiday season.
