JAY-Z Wins Peabody Award
Jay-Z will be adding another award to his collection! According to Variety, the 2017 documentary he produced: “TIME: The Kalief Browder Story” will earn this honor.
The documentary told the story of Kalief Browder, a man from the Bronx, NY, who was arrested for allegedly stealing a backpack.
Browder was sent to Rikers Island and faced mental and physical abuse over the course of 3 years locked up, without being convicted. He committed suicide at the age of 22.
The Peabody Awards will take place on May 19th in New York.
