Teens Start No-Contact Grocery Delivery For Senior Citizens
With classes being cancelled due to the coronavirus, two Maryland teens have stepped up to help some of the most vulnerable in their community.
16-year-old Dhruv Pai and 15-year-old Matt Casertano have started a grocery delivery service for senior citizens who are adhering to social distancing and sheltering in place.
“We thought maybe there are people in vulnerable populations out there, especially seniors, who don’t have family to rely on during these times,” Pai told WUSA9 in Washington, DC. “I said, ‘Maybe I can make their life a little bit easier and also reduce the risk.'”
Their service, called “Teens Helping Seniors” has already made over 80 deliveries, and grown by over 60 other teenage volunteers.
