Usher Drops ‘Good Good’ With 21 Savage & Summer Walker
Usher’s “Good Good” featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage arrived Friday (Aug. 4). In the song, Usher speaks on a past relationship being over but still being able to be cordial to one another.
“I hate that we didn’t make to forever // Probably ain’t getting back together // But that don’t mean that I can’t wish you better // We ain’t good good, but we still good,” Usher sings on the record.
He told USA TODAY that the phrase “good good” just naturally came to him. The phrase organically came to him, and he saw how the tidbit connected with his past relationships. He added that he has had bad relationships before and is he “now I’m trying to not have as many bad ones.”
As for the collaboration, Usher tapped in 21 Savage, who went viral for singing the R&B legend’s “My Boo,” and decided that he also needed a “female perspective” on the song. “It was our collective idea to have a female’s perspective on the record, and Summer seems to be very vulnerable in the way that she discusses her life. … I was like ‘Yo, who better to be able to narrate on the woman’s perspective than Summer Walker?’,” he says.

Usher previously worked with Summer on “Come Thru” from her debut album Over It, which samples his 1997 hit “U Make Me Wanna.”
21 and Summer worked together back in 2020 on the rapper’s “Secret.”
Usher hasn’t released a full album since 2016’s Hard II Love. While many fans thought that the Confessions album would be getting a sequel, the singer doubled down saying that his album will not be titled Confessions II. His reasoning behind not wanting to do a sequel is not wanting to be “who he was” but to surpass his past success.
“I want to be better than what I was. That might be a problem [laughs],” he told GQ back in February.
A release date for his upcoming album has yet to be released, but the R&B superstar said it would arrive by the end of the year.
