Pumpkin Spice Falls In The Top 5 Fall Flavors List
Oh oh, it looks like America’s love affair with pumpkin spice is winding down, well just a bit, because it is no longer the most favored Fall flavor. Of course it’s still one of the top 5 favorites, but no longer number one.
One has to ask if it was too much of a good thing because for the past decade pumpkin spice was the most beloved and anticipated fall flavor. Every August was met with the hopes and desires of having Dunkin’ and Starbucks to offer it in their coffees and delectable treats such as muffin’s, donut’s and various and sundry pumpkin spice drinks both hot and cold.
Maybe we are burned out a bit and want to move onto other flavors for fall.
The first day of fall is still over a month out. (September 22nd) But an early poll for it found 58% of Americans think pumpkin spice is NOT the best fall flavor.
It only ranked fourth overall. So, what beat it? Here are the Top 5
1. Cinnamon. 39% said it’s one of their favorite fall flavors. Remember, this doesn’t mean just coffee, you can use cinnamon as a topping to so many things and it is very good for your health. Experts say that it aids with lowering blood sugar levels for people with Type 2 Diabetes.
2. Salted caramel, 37%. This a relatively newcomer to the top 5. Salted caramel goes great in coffee, chocolate and for some, a really nice and sweet cocktail. You can also find it used in ice cream as a flavor and a topping.
3. Candy apple, 36%. When you think of Fall fairs and gatherings, you think of candy apple, the delicious hard candy coating on a Macintosh apple is a must have treat for Autumn, just watch your teeth.
4. Pumpkin spice, 32% Yes it’s true, this once king of all Fall flavors has fallen to 4th place we suspect the over saturation of all things pumpkin spice from candles to candy and air freshener scent to latte’s. Maybe you can get tired of a good thing, but still want it from time to time, not all the time in everything.
5. Maple, 28%. The taste of maple is synonymous with Fall and Winter. Whether it’s spread on your pancakes and French toast or as an ice cream flavor, the distinct maple taste brings back memories with every bite. I don’t know anybody that doesn’t like maple, especially here in New England home of maple syrup.
