Diddy’s Mom Is ‘Devastated,’ ‘Profoundly Saddened’ By Allegations
Janice Small Combs is defending her son, Sean “Diddy” Combs. She released a statement on Sunday via her attorney, which was shared on social media.
“I come to you today as a mother that is devastated and profoundly saddened by the allegations made against my son, Sean Combs. It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies. To bear witness [to] what seems like a public lynching of my son before he’s had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise. Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed.” The hotel incident that she is referring to was an incident when Diddy was physically abusive to his then-girlfriend Cassie; the video was leaked and shared widely. Diddy was indicted on various sex trafficking counts last month. He was put on suicide watch as he awaits trial at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
Things have not gotten better for Sean Combs. According to CNN, more than 100 men and women intend to pursue new allegations against the rap mogul. Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee, who announced at a press conference that he is representing more than 100 accusers, then announced a hotline set up for other people accusing Diddy of additional assualt. In an interview last week, he said that 12,000 people called the hotline, according to People.
The federal indictment, which Combs is in jail for (and has been denied bail twice) centers on his “freak offs”; prosecutors allege that he forced or coerced women into participating in them. They allege the the “freak offs” sometimes lasted for days in a roy and invoved narcotic use. If Combs is convicted on all of these charges, he can potentially face life in prision.
