Boston College Matchup Against Nebraska in Pinstripe Bowl Set for Dec. 28
Boston College (7-5, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) and Nebraska (6-6, 3-6 Big Ten Conference) will face each other for the first time ever at the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 28, at noon. The game will air nationally on ABC Sports. A win in this bowl game would give Boston its first eight-win season since 2009.
Boston has had a decisive 4-1 start to its season and earned a spot in the Associated Press Top 25 for the first time since 2018. The Eagles lost three straight games, then won their matchups against Syracuse, North Carolina, and Pittsburgh to clinch their first seven-win regular season since 2018.
The Eagles have become bowl-eligible for the eighth time during the last nine years and the 32nd time in the program’s history. They are 15-13 in bowl games, not counting game cancellations in 2018 and 2021. Boston did not compete in the 2020 bowl season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers finished 12th in the Big Ten, losing five of their last six games after a 5-1 season start. The Cornhuskers rank among college football programs with the most wins, with five national championships and 26 bowl victories.
“Boston College is well-represented in New York City and the tri-state area, so to have the opportunity to play in the Northeast, where so many of our fans and alumni call home, is an honor,” said Boston’s first-year head coach Bill O’Brien in a media release shared with Boston.com.
“This is a great connection between two iconic brands in Nebraska football and Yankee Stadium, and it will be a memorable experience for our players,” Nebraska coach Matt Rhule stated in a media release. “I have great respect for the Boston College program and the success Coach O’Brien has had in his first season.”
