Everything We Know About ‘Scream 7’
ICYMI, the Scream franchise, known for its high body count and self-aware humor, announced the seventh installment on the franchise. We’re guessing Scream VI’s domestic profit of $108 million, the highest of the franchise, had to do with the studio greenlighting the next installment. Excitement for Scream 7 is already building especially since franchise favorites are set to return. Aside from the returning cast members, what else do we know about this beloved slasher series?
Returning Cast
Recent news has confirmed that Courtney Cox is set to reprise her role again as journalist-turned-crime author Gale Weathers in the upcoming seventh movie, per Variety. She is the only actor who appeared in all seven movies. Neve Campbell admitted she did not want to join the sixth film because of a “salary dispute.” She mentioned, “I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise,” per Entertainment Weekly.
However, Campbell confirmed she will return to the franchise after sitting out Scream VI. She shared the news on Instagram in March 2024 (via Toofab), “I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!! […] I’ve dreamt for many years of how amazing it would be to make one of these movies with Kevin Williamson at the helm. And now it’s happening…”
New Cast
Isabel May joined the cast of Scream 7 in November 2024. The Yellowstone spinoff actress (she appeared in the prequels 1883 and 1923 as narrator Elsa Dutton) will play the role of Neve Campbell’s daughter. There are rumors as well that Patrick Dempsey might return in his role as Campbell’s husband, Mark Kincaid but per Entertainment Weekly, he said, “I’m waiting on the script. I haven’t seen anything yet, so we’ll see what happens.”
Anna Camp, known for her Pitch Perfect role, joined the franchise, but her role is still being kept under wraps, per Screen Rant. Camp is no stranger to horror films, having already starred in the vampire series True Blood as Sarah Newlin, the series’ Seasons 6 and 7’s main antagonist and in Peacock’s horror-comedy Hysteria! as Tracy Whitehead, a devout religious crusader. Her addition was the result of a creative shake-up after Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera left.
The Plot
Nothing has been officially announced yet about Scream 7. However, Campbell confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, “We are going to follow Sidney. They did pitch the concept to me, and it’s the reason that I jumped on board. I love these movies, they are so much fun to be a part of, I’m so grateful for them, I could never have imagined being a part of a movie that would have lasted this many decades.”
Scream 7 is set to be released on February 7, 2026.
