Logan Airport Sets New Service Record: 43 Million Passengers in 2024
To say 2024 was a busy year for Boston’s Logan International Airport would be an understatement. The airport served 43 million passengers this year, shattering its previous record of 42.5 million in 2019.
Reagan Berry of Boston was honored on Tuesday, Dec. 17, as the 43 millionth passenger. Berry received free tickets from Delta Air Lines.
In a media statement provided to Boston.com, Massport CEO Rich Davey praised the work of the airport for creating an inviting environment for passengers. “This milestone is huge for Logan, not only because it’s a
new record for the airport, but also signaling that we are connecting more people across the globe,” he said.
Logan Airport connects passengers with more than 30 countries, 84 domestic destinations, and 59 international destinations. It recently opened destinations to Funchal, Portugal, and Abu Dhabi and brought two new airlines to Logan: Austrian Airlines and Etihad.
This year was also a banner year of growth for Logan Express (LEX). The airport transportation service served more than 2.5 million passengers in 2024 and has doubled its ridership over the past decade. Massport recently announced that it is expanding its Framingham Logan Express location to include more than 1,000 parking spaces to accommodate the growing demand from airline travelers in the Boston area.
Massport is conducting several projects at Logan Airport over the next five years to improve passenger pickup and dropoff areas in the Terminal B garage and create a new multi-level transportation hub in Terminal E. A post-security connector for Terminals A and B is also in the works to allow passengers to move between terminals easily.
