21 Savage Speaks Out After His Release From US Immigration
Rapper 21 Savage has spoken out in an interview for the first time since being released from U.S. Immigration.
21 Savage, who missed his performance at the 2019 Grammys due to being incarcerated, sat down with ABC News anchor Linsey Davis in an exclusive interview.
When Savage was asked what happened when he was arrested, the rapper stated that he was clueless.
“I don’t even know. I was just driving and saw guns and blue lights,” he explained. “Next thing I know I was in the back of the car.”
The British rapper, who feels at heart that he’s from Atlanta because he came to the Georgia city when he was six years old, says the arrest was definitely targeted.
He also said that his lawyers think that he was targeted because he addressed the immigration system in his single, “A Lot.”
“I don’t think you should be arrested and being in a place where a murderer would be for being in the country for too long,” Savage said.
He stated that he was in one room all day by himself while he was detained.
“I done been through so much in my life I’ve learned to embrace the times when I’m down,” Savage stated.
With a smile on his face, the father of three said that his kids started jumping him as soon as he was reunited with them.
He was released on $100,000 bond.
The rapper had a message for the detainees that he left behind in the detention center.
“I feel your pain, and I’mma do everything in my power to try to bring awareness to your pain,” he said.
