Ava DuVernay Might Have A Hosting Gig For LeVar Burton
Ava DuVernay might be coming to LeVar Burton’s rescue after the news came that the former Roots and Star Trek: The Next Generation star did not get the gig hosting Jeopardy! that he was very publically pining for very publicly pinning for. The Oscar-winning director is looking to help Burton out and develop his own show and make him an “international hit.”
The potential business deal went down on Twitter and just like Burton, we are excited for this possible opportunity.
“Me trying to create a show right in this moment for @levarburton to host and make an international hit,” DuVernay tweeted at Burton.

Burton wasted no time in responding to the Selma director, “Check your DM’s!”

After the announcement of the new Jeopardy! hosts, the Roots alum penned a sweet message to his fans for the outpouring support he’s received, “I have said many times over these past weeks that no matter the outcome, I’ve won. The outpouring of love and support from family, friends, and fans alike has been incredible! If love is the ultimate blessing and I believe that it is, I am truly blessed beyond measure.”

Fans even took it a step further and made a petition to have the Star Trek alum back as the host. Joshua Sanders, who started the petition wrote, “Between hosting 21 seasons of the educational Reading Rainbow, playing the brainiac engineer Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and filling the roll of Kunta Kinte in the ever-important mini-series Roots, LeVar Burton has inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds,” Sanders penned to the Change.org site.
He added: “This petition is to show Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and producers Mike Richards and Harry Friedman just how much love the public has for Burton, and how much we’d all love to see him as the next host of Jeopardy!”
Jeopardy! announced that the new hosts taking over the late Alex Trebek’s position will be Mike Richards and Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik.
