So, Hurricane Warnings issued for Florida’s west coast has been expanded farther south. That includes Tampa Bay, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Punta Gorda, Naples and Everglades City.
To continue, the Hurricane Warning has also been expanded into the interior of the Florida Peninsula and includes the Orlando area. About 7.4 million people are covered by the Hurricane Warning.
Also, Tampa International Airport and other major Florida airports are closing as Hurricane Ian gets closer.
Walt Disney World announced on Tuesday evening that the parks would be closing due to Hurricane Ian.
The parks will be closed today and Thursday. Here’s more from ramp.com:
Hurricane Ian is expected to strengthen into a very dangerous Category 4 storm today. It approaches Florida’s low-lying Gulf Coast. As the Washington Post said of Ian, “It will be the first hurricane to hit the Sunshine State since Michael in 2018. It could at least briefly become the strongest September hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico since Rita in 2005.”
