It’s National Dog Day! National Dog day is celebrated annually on August 26. Now before we put together a photo gallery of dogs to brighten your day, let’s give you some information to help you on your quest to find your new best friend.

Most popular dog breeds

The most popular dog breeds, according to Rover.com, are Non-designer mixed breeds, Labrador Retrievers, Goldendoodle, Golden Retriever. German Shepherd, Chihuahua, French Bulldog and Dachshund. This doesn’t mean you should get one of these breeds when considering your new best friend. There are dog breeds that are better for say single people. Other dog breeds are better with families. Others are better living in apartments rather than houses. It all just depends on your situation and you should definitely do research before getting your new pet.

Where you can adopt

There are several pet adoption centers in each state. The ASPCA can help you determine your best location. In Massachusetts, the MSPCA is a great place to start. Fayetteville has the Animal Protection Society. If you’re in Augusta, you can go to the cities’ official website for adoption information. And if you’re in Las Vegas, the “Animal Foundation” has several pets up for adoption, many of which have fees waived.

Now, to celebrate National Dog Day, let’s smile and look at some of the cutest pups around. And if you want to submit your best friend, just comment on our Facebook page. We’d love to see your best friends!
