The 2023 BET Awards showed out this year with several performances before and during the show. The award show celebrated the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, where rap legends (and those in the making) performed their hit songs.

“Culture’s Biggest Night” had performances from newcomers such as Ice Spice, GloRilla, Latto, and Coco Jones, and rap legends such as MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, Trina, Trick Daddy, and more. Busta Rhymes was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Patti Labelle also did a special tribute to the late Tina Turner.

Both the East Coast and West Coast were represented on stage last night (June 25) including Kid Capri holding it down throughout all the performances.

2023 BET Awards Complete Winners List

Drake and Glo led nominations that came from both solo and collaborative efforts. The Toronto rapper was nominated for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Group with 21 Savage, and Album of the Year for Her Loss with 21 Savage. He was also nominated for the Viewer’s Choice Award for “Jimmy Cooks” with 21 and for his assist on Future’s “Wait For U,” with Tems, with the latter also being nominated for Best Collaboration.

Glo was nominated for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Best New Artist, Album of the Year for her debut LP Anyways, Life’s Great, Video of the Year for “Tomorrow 2” with Cardi B, and two nominations for Best Collaboration (“F.N.F. Let’s Go” and “Tomorrow 2”).

21 Savage and Lizzo earned five nominations each.  Beyoncé, SZA, Ice Spice, Chris Brown, and Burna Boy each scored four nominations.

• 10. GloRilla's Performance

  GloRilla was on fire with her performance of “Lick Or Sum.” The rapper was nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s award show. She was also nominated for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Album of the Year for her debut LP Anyways, Life’s Great, Video of the Year for “Tomorrow 2” with Cardi B, and two nominations for Best Collaboration (“F.N.F. Let’s Go” and “Tomorrow 2”).

• 9. Latto

  Latto had everyone feeling brand new during her performance of “Put It On Da Floor.” The rapper won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at this year’s award show. She was also nominated in the Best Collaboration category “Big Energy (Remix),” Latto & Mariah Carey feat. DJ Khaled.

• 8. Coco Jones "ICU" performance

  Coco Jones performed her No. 1 single “ICU” at the 2023 BET Awards. Shortly before she took the stage for her performance she snagged the Best New Artist win. This was Jones’ first win.

• 7. Ice Spice Performance

  Ice Spice performed her breakout hit “Munch (Feelin’ U)” and “Princess Diana.” This was the Bronx native’s first BET performance. She was nominated for Best New Artist.

• 6. 80s Hip-Hop Tribute

  MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, The Sugarhill Gang, and D-Nice hopped on stage to perform the ’80s-era hip-hop tribute portion of the ceremony. The Sugarhill Gang performed “Rapper’s Delight” and MC Lyte performed “Cha Cha Cha.” D-Nice joined with “Call Me D-Nice” and Big Daddy Kane closed the set with “RAW.”

• 5. West Coast Hip-Hop Tribute

  Warren G, Yo-Yo, and Tyga represented the West Coast at the BET Awards. Warren G opened with “Regulate” followed by Yo-Yo’s “You Can’t Play With My Yo Yo.” Tyga closed the West Coast portion with “Rack City.”

• 4. Trick Daddy, Trina and Uncle Luke Perform Classics

  Trick Daddy, Trina and Uncle Luke performed some of their classic hit “Nann,” and Uncle Luke performed “I Wanna Rock (Do Do Brown).” The song was originally released in 1998. Take a look at their performance above.

• 3. '90s Hip-Hop Tribute

  Redman, Erick Sermon, and Keith Murray — also known as “Def Squad” — represented the ’90s era of hip-hop at the 2023 BET Awards. Sermon performed “Music,” and Keith Murray followed with “The Most Beautifullest Thing In This World.”Redman closed it out with “Da Goodness.” Take a look at their performance above:

• 2. Migos Reunited

  One of the biggest surprises of the night was that Offset and Quavo reunited for a tribute to the late Takeoff. They performed “Hotel Lobby” and “Bad and Boujee.” Take a look at their performance above.

• 1. Busta Tribute

  Busta Rhymes was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award where a host of rappers including Rah Digga, Swizz Beatz, Coi Leray, and more paid tribute. Busta also joined the tribute and performed his own hits. Take a look at the performance above.
