SAN CARLOS ISLAND, FLORIDA - OCTOBER 06: Power crews work to restore electricity in the wake of Hurricane Ian on October 06, 2022 on San Carlos Island, Florida. While many homes and businesses have had their power restored already, significant numbers of Lee County residents remain without power one week after the storm made landfall. If you pay your electric bill each month, you may notice it RISING. Where does Massachusetts rank when it comes to the average electric bill? I became curious and find a rank of electric bills by state, that I’ll share.

Get Ready To Pay More

According to one WCVB report, citing the higher prices of natural gas, which powers many electric companies, National Grid, says we should look for the price to DOUBLE starting November 1. If you do the math that’s about a 64% increase.

Is Solar The Answer?

I’m not an energy expert, but I’m becoming one. Starting in November MY solar panels will be installed. I was promised that my electric bill will disappear, replaced by a much smaller locked in monthly payment. That will go to pay off the solar panels. I’m happy to say that because my house has direct sunlight, I only need panels on the BACK roof. That should keep the curb appeal in the front. So you could imagine my delight. When I read about the 64% cost increase, it seems that I may have done this install just in time. Add to that if you install panels, you get a 30% tax credit. Once the panels are paid off, you get a federal credit each year.

So, let’s take a look at the average electric bills by state according to Saveonenergy.com.
