Look before you book!

If you’re planning a trip to Disney World anytime soon and not sure about where to stay, good news, experts have scoured all of the various hotels and resorts on the property and ranked the top 5.

Of course, these are not the most economical hotels in Disney World, these are the best if price is no object. If you’re looking for more value, non of these will qualify, you will have to look into third tier resorts such as the Value Resorts that are much cheaper (but still not cheap)

My Disney World experience

My family has been to Disney World on many occasions over the past two decades and have stayed at least a dozen hotels and resorts on campus. Being in the radio business, I was given many opportunities to visit the parks. There was one time many years ago that the Disney World radio promotion team had me broadcast my morning show from five different Disney hotels every morning for five days.

Five stays in 5 days!

We would spend a night in the hotel and wake up in the morning and do a live broadcast from that day’s hotel (usually poolside) and then go spend the day at one of the parks and our luggage would be moved to the next hotel for that night. So, we never woke up in the same bed for an entire 5 days.  We loved it! What a great chance to check out the various offerings and see where we would like to stay someday on our own family time.

As I look at the list of the Top 5, I realize that my family has stayed at all of them and I do have a favorite that made the list.  These are all on the pricier side of the resorts, so get ready for sticker shock, but if you want a great place to stay in Disney World, you can’t go wrong with any of these.

Here are the experts Top 5!

  • 5. Disney's Boardwalk Inn

This is my favorite on the list! You will feel as though you have been transported to the early 20th Century on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. It’s got great restaurants and stores and you can rent a bicycle for four to explore it all in. Great family fun!

  • 4. Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

You will be transported to wonderous continent of Africa the moment you arrive. There are exotic animals galore and you will get the feeling that you are on the Serengeti plains in the middle of Africa. Kids and adults with love it, especially when they see the majestic giraffes with their long necks craned up and looking for tree top treats to eat.

  • 3. Disney's Beach Club Resort

This is our number 2 favorite on the list, it’s located on the Boardwalk and has a Beach Club feel to it, hence the name. The pools and beaches are the best and you will love the old fashioned diner theme restaurant called Beaches and Cream. If you do go, be sure to order the Kitchen Sink Ice Cream, it will feed 4 for sure!

  • 2. Disney's Wilderness Lodge

You will feel as though you and the family are staying at a wooden lodge in the Great Northwest. It’s evokes the feel of being in a gigantic wooden cabin but has all the modern emenities that you want, like great restaurants and pools and fireplaces everywhere. A perfect place to wind down after a day in the parks, make a s’more and relax in an Adirondack chair with a birch beer!

  • 1. Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

This resort is number one for a lot of reasons. First, you will feel as though you have landed on a tropical Pacific Island that is far from deserted. There’s so much to do, with Polynesian themed pools, rooms and restaurants. Also, the monorail runs right through the hotel and will whisk you away to the parks in a snap.  Be sure be to book your reservation for an authentic luau too!
