If you are paying a monthly subscription fee to watch your favorite movies and series on Netflix and you’re sharing your password with others, prepare to pay. We’ve been hearing for several weeks now that Netflix was set to begin charging fees for sharing passwords. The charging roll out had already started earlier this year in four countries: New Zealand, Canada, Portugal and Spain. Apparently the roll out went smoothly. So smoothly that the company is now set to roll out its next phase into the United States. So what does this mean for you and everyone else who is currently sharing your Netflix password?

This basically means that you will not be able to share your password with anyone without paying a fee. How much that fee is, we’ll get into below. But just know this is all taking place starting this week.

  Netflix began alerting members to the crackdown Tuesday. “Your Netflix account is for you and the people you live with — your household,” read the email.

  The only people who you can technically share your Netflix password with are people LIVING IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD. Anyone using your account outside of your household will cost you an extra fee.
