Two Local Stars Take Over Beloved Boston Bakery Bova’s For Movie

Boy, I’d be PISSED if I wanted a cannoli today.

Beloved Boston Bakery Bova’s is closed FOR A WEEK to film a movie starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck.

That’s right. No Ben. Just Casey. THE OTHER AFFLECK.

Bova’s Bakery, which is located at the corner of Salem and Prince streets, will be closed due to the filming of “The Instigators.”

Oh, and if you’re thinking: “I’ll just order stuff online”? Forget it.

The bakery also announced any online orders won’t be shipped until March 27.

WHAT?

So what’s this movie about?

According to Deadline.com, “The Instigators” follows two thieves who go on the run with one of their therapists after a robbery goes awry.

It’s not clear when the film will be released.

Deadline also said the movie is an Apple Original Films project. It is produced by Damon and Ben Affleck (THE OG AFFLECK. sorry CASEY), their Artists Equity production company.

That production company just completed its first film, “Air“. That stars both Damon and Ben Affleck. As it should be.

“Air” hits theaters nationwide on April 5 and then Amazon Prime (for those who never want to leave their house.)

FYI: “Air” follows the history of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro, and how he led Nike in its pursuit of the greatest athlete in the history of basketball: Michael Jordan.

As for Bova’s, the Bova family has owned and operated the beloved bakery since since 1926. They whip up and ship out Italian specialty cookies, cannolis, pastries and pies, along with warm, fresh-baked Italian bread.

Meanwhile, the South Boston apartment building featured in the 1997 film “Good Will Hunting” now has a unit available for rent.

  • "Field of Dreams"

This isn’t worst, but they we just extras, so it doesn’t count as much.
They responded to a call for extras at Fenway Park for a very simple reason: “Just to go to Fenway,” Damon told Dan Patrick in 2021. “We were extras in ‘Field of Dreams.’ I bet there were probably 3,000 extras in a big crowd scene when Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones are at the baseball game.”

  • "Chasing Amy"

“Chasing Amy,” stars Ben Affleck as Holden McNeil, who meets and falls for Alyssa, a lesbian. Damon appears in the film as an executive.

  • "Jay and Silent Bob Reboot"

Affleck plays his “Chasing Amy” character, and Damon is Loki, a fallen angel who was also Jason Bourne, a joke about Damon’s Bourne franchise.

  • "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"

Affleck appears as himself, his “Good Will Hunting” character, and as Holden from “Chasing Amy.” Damon appears as himself and as Will Hunting.

  • "Dogma"

In 1999’s “Dogma,” which was also directed by Smith and is the fourth movie set in the “Clerks” universe, Damon and Affleck play two fallen angels, Bartleby and Loki, who are condemned to exile in Wisconsin.

  • "The Last Duel"

This LOOKED good, but it kind of got panned.
“The Last Duel,” released in 2021 was based on a true story. Damon plays Sir Jean de Carrouges, a member of the French nobility who’s anxious to make a name for himself and getting the approval of his liege lord, Count Pierre d’Alençon (Affleck).

  • "Air"

“Air” follows the history of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro, and how he led Nike in its pursuit of the greatest athlete in the history of basketball: Michael Jordan.

  • "School Ties"

Affleck and Damon starred in “School Ties” alongside Brendan Fraser in 1992. Damon and Ben played SUCH jerks.

  • "Good Will Hunting"

“Good Will Hunting,” released in 1997, was Affleck and Damon’s big break. Set in their hometown, Damon played a self-taught genius, Will Hunting, who works as a janitor at MIT.
