Oxford gym owner fined $300 for refusing to close, raises over $7,000 to pay fines
We spoke to Dave Blondin earlier this week about keeping his gym open despite direct orders from the governor to shut down during the pandemic. He told us he knew he was gonna get fined, which he now has. Blondin, who’s the owner of Prime Fitness & Nutrition has been fined $300 and can be fined $300 three times before a cease and desist order is issued.
Dave says he’s not worried and he’s not gonna budge. He created a Gofundme to help pay the fines which has now surpassed $7,000. Dave plans to donate the rest of the money to mental health organizations.
Meanwhile, Bodystrong Fitness in Chatham has also opened up early, co-owner Corey Clark said on Thursday. They’ve already received verbal and written warnings and a fine is expected today.
