LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - NOVEMBER 19: Host Cardi B attends the 2021 American Music Awards Red Carpet Roll-Out with Host Cardi B at L.A. LIVE on November 19, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.

A federal jury on Monday (Jan. 24) ruled in favor of Cardi B against Tasha K’s “malicious campaign” to defame the rapper’s reputation, resulting in a verdict that is awarding more than $1 million in damages.

Billboard reports that although Cardi won $1.25 million, that judgment could increase in the future.

The YouTuber, whose real name is Latasha Kebe, tweeted out Monday (Jan. 24) thanking her supporters and team during the trial period, “My Husband, Attorney’s, & I fought really hard,” Kebe tweeted. “I want to thank them for their long hours and sleepless nights. Winos it’s only up from here. See y’all in a few days.Clinking glasses. Back to work. #unwinewithtashak #nowigottagobye.”

A few hours later she tweeted out that “this is part of the protocol” and these kinds of lawsuits “ain’t the last” in terms of the line of work she’s in.

Tasha K was found guilty of spreading rumors on the internet saying that the Grammy-winning rapper had a “sexually transmitted disease, would penetrate herself with beer bottles while dancing at strip clubs, was a drug abuser, cheated on her husband Offset, and was a prostitute,” HotNewHipHop reports.

We previously reported that Cardi B testified on Thursday (Jan. 13) that Tasha K’s blog posts made her feel suicidal, per TMZ. She broke down in tears after repeating that the blog posts made her consider harming herself.

In addition to the defamation, “the jury also held Kebe liable for invasion of privacy through portrayal in a false light, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Kebe’s attorneys can challenge the verdict to the judge in the weeks ahead. If he upholds it, her attorneys can then appeal the verdict to a federal appeals court,” HotNewHipHop reports.

Cardi B has not publicly made a statement regarding the result of the suit.
