BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA - SEPTEMBER 20: Quinta Brunson attends the 2019 Pre-Emmy Party hosted by Entertainment Weekly and L’Oreal Paris at Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles on Friday, September 20, 2019.

Class will be remaining in session! ABC’s Abbott Elementary — the comedy series created, starring, and written by Quinta Brunson— will be renewed for its second season.

The announcement came on Monday (March 14) in a comedic memo from the desk of none other than Principal Ava — played by actress and comedian Janelle James.

The hit show is broadcast’s No. 1 new comedy in adults 18-49 alongside CBS freshman comedy Ghosts, per Vibe.

Abbott Elementary takes place in a public school in Philadelphia and focuses on the lives of the educators as they navigate teaching in an underresourced school in a comedic mockumentary-style format.

Not only has Abbott Elementary been well-received from fans, but they have also been putting in the work when the cameras are off. The season renewal follows the announcement of their partnership with Scholastic Books to provide free book fairs for lower-income students and the memo above urges fans to support schools in real life by visiting DonorsChoose.org. Additionally, the show has also been using marketing money to give out school supplies to teachers.

Brunson told Today, “We chose to put the marketing money toward supplies for teachers. It’s about being able to make those kinds of decisions that really excite me, things that can really materially help people.” Abbott Elementary stars Brunson and James alongside Sheryl Lee Ralph, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, and Tyler James Williams New episodes of Abbott Elementary return Tuesday, March 22 at 9 p.m. ET. All episodes are streaming now on Hulu.
