Megan Thee Stallion Drops "Cobra"
"HISS" will follow "Cobra," which kicked off her snake theme. "Cobra" was released back in November. On that song, the artist rapped about her depression, missing her deceased parents, and why her relationship with songwriter/rapper Pardisn Fontaine ended.
"Pulled up, caught him cheatin’, gettin’ his d--- sucked in the same spot I’m sleepin’/ Lord, give me a break, I don’t know how much more of this s--- I can take," she raps.
Pardi denied cheating allegations in his response with the diss track "Thee Person," taking the "thee" from Megan's rap name "Megan Thee Stallion."
"I asked you to your face did you f--- them n----/And you swore on your mother/I knew from then, I couldn’t trust her/More lies from the lips of a lover," Pardi raps.
Megan Thee Stallion Teases New Music Era
After cutting ties with her record label 1501 Entertainment, she is now fully independent. She told her fans about it on Instagram Live back in October.
"This part of my album is very much so funded by Megan Thee Stallion because we’re trying to get off… Y’all know what’s the tea. But I have no label right now," she explained on Instagram Live. "We’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pockets. So, the budget is coming from me. Motherf—ing Hot Girl Productions! The next s— y’all about to see is all straight from Megan Thee Stallion’s brain and Megan Thee Stallion’s wallet. We are in my pockets, hotties, so let’s do our big one."
"It’s really just me this go around until we sign to a new label. But I don’t want to sign to a new label right now because I just want to do it myself," she shared.
A couple of"weeks after the Instagram Live, Megan posted a cryptic message on social media confirming her new era in music.
"Just as a snake sheds its skin, we must shed our past over and over again," Megan is seen saying with just her lips visible. In the 13-second clip, we also see the rapper with snake teeth and another with snake eyes. She captioned the video "ACT ONE [snake emoji]."
"HISS" will be out this Friday (Jan. 26).
After a social media hiatus, Megan Thee Stallion is back. Megan dropped off social media after the sentencing of Tory Lanez (born Daystar Peterson). Lanez was found guilty of three charges: first-degree assault with a firearm, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, and having a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He shot the rapper in the foot in 2020 after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner's home.
The rapper was sentenced to 10 years in prison after his bail motion was denied in September. Prosecutors initially asked for 13 years. Following his sentencing, Lanez wrote a note to his fan base, "The Umbrellas" on Instagram.
Tory's statement read: "In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of," Tory wrote on Instagram. "I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do. I’ve faced adversity my whole life and every time it looked like I would lose, I came out on top. This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious. Tough times don’t last, tough people do. To my family, friends, and umbrellas thank you for your continued support. See you soon."

Megan didn't appear in court but she sent a statement in on her behalf.
"He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma," Megan wrote, per Law&Crime reporter Megan Cuniff. "He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul.
"He lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media. He released music videos and songs to damage my character and continue his crusade."
She continued: "At first, he tried to deny the shooting ever happened. Then, he attempted to place the blame on my former best friend. In his tantrum of lies, he’s blamed the system, blamed the press and, as of late, he’s using his childhood trauma to shield himself and avoid culpability."
"For once, the defendant must be forced to face the full consequences of his heinous actions and face justice," she concluded.
