Beliebers were disappointed, to say the least, when Justin Bieber did not show up on stage next to Usher for his Super Bowl Halftime performance. Lil Jon, who joined Usher for "Turn Down For What," "Yeah!" and "Shots," says that the "Peaches" singer just "wasn't really ready" to get on the big stage.

"We wanted to put Justin in the show, so we had the idea of doing a version of the show with Justin in it," said Lil Jon to TMZ. "But I think Justin just wasn’t really ready."

The DJ added that since there was a lot of "rehearsal, a lot of responsibility, a lot of time and a lot of eyeballs," so for obvious reasons, it would not have made sense for the singer to participate.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Bieber just "wasn't feeling it," but that he and Usher remain on good terms.

"There’s no bad blood between Usher and Justin," a source told Page Six. "Justin just wasn’t up for it — he just wasn’t feeling it."

Usher and Bieber's history goes back to 2007 when he signed with Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG), a joint venture between Scooter Braun and Usher. While Usher didn't discover Bieber (Braun did on YouTube), the R&B singer has been a mentor to Bieber. The two would later most notably collaborated on "Somebody to Love" in 2010.

Despite not having Bieber as a guest, Usher was joined by Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R, Lil Jon, Will.I.Am, and Ludacris. Take a look at the setlist below:

  • "Caught Up"
  • "U Don't Have to Call"
