A Queen Latifah Biopic Is Coming And I Am Here For It – All Hail The Queen
A Queen Latifah biopic is in the works and let me tell you, I am beyond excited! Notoriously private about her personal life, it’ll be interesting to see how much she delves into that side of her life. And even if she doesn’t, which is fine, there’s so much to learn about her legendary career as a woman who’s navigated male-dominated spaces for years. All hail the queen!
Queen Latifah Biopic – What We Know
The upcoming Queen Latifah biopic will be the first in a series of hip-hop biopics produced by Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment, along with Westbrook Studios, and Jesse Collins Entertainment (“The New Edition Story” and “The Bobby Brown Story”). Latifah and her Flavor Unit Entertainment partner Shakim Compere had this to say about the project, “We all came into this industry together and Hip Hop has shaped each and every one of us.” “Hip Hop’s impact has expanded beyond just music and has created a lasting impression on culture and society overall. It is a dream to be able to collaborate with friends and colleagues that have not only a shared understanding, but are able to tell these stories that were the backdrop of our lives.”
Also involved in the project is Will Smith, producing for Westbrook Studios. His thoughts on the collab? “I’m thrilled to work alongside Flavor Unit, Jesse Collins Entertainment, and HarbourView, to highlight the incredible stories of some of our favorite artists…There’s no better story to start with than Queen Latifah.”
The Queen Latifah Biopic, Because She Deserves
Queen Latifah’s talent is absolutely mind-blowing, and personally, I don’t think she gets a fraction of the credit she deserves for that talent. Her accomplishments are many. She was the first female hip-hop artist nominated for an Oscar. She was the first hip-ho artist to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She’s won a Golden Globe, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, and a Primetime Emmy Award. She also received the BET Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021, and in 2023 became the first female rapper to be a Kennedy Center honoree. The Queen is everything!
I was able to see her perform at Boston’s Symphony Hall, and let me tell you, that woman is mesmerizing, and her voice is gold. Here’s the video I captured that night.
