Game Night Favorites: 6 Recommendations To Elevate Your Night With Family & Friends
Game night favorites. We all have them. The games that bring family and friends together to have fun, and to sometimes fuel friendly feuds. I mean, who hasn’t gotten into a very loud throwdown over Uno stacking rules? It’s all part of the game. No pun intended. Well we did a little survey on our GetUp Crew Facebook page to see what people had to say about their game night favorites. What follows is a small representation of the recommendations that came rolling in. We’ve included some favs that were mentioned over and over again, as well as some less familiar ones to try out. Enjoy!
Game Night Favorites: 6 Recommendations
Cards Against Humanity – This one was mentioned A LOT. If you’ve never played, it’s a fill-in-the-blank card game where one player asks a question from a black card, and everyone else answers with their funniest white card. But according to Michael, it’s not all fun and games.
“I will NEVER play that game again. I made the most heinous combination, knew I would win the game, and decided at that moment I’d never play it again. Don’t ask me what my combination was – I’ve erased it from my memory because it was too traumatizing.”
Uno – Another one that got a whole lotta votes! And Uno will test your relationships with people. There are lots of different versions of Uno at this point, and one in particular got several votes. Uno No Mercy. As Domenic said, “Uno no mercy ends friendships.” Mattel describes it as, “UNO Show ’em No Mercy game adds 56 more cards, special rules and super-tough action cards for the most brutal edition of UNO ever!”
LCR (Left, Center, Right) – This is one I’ve never heard of, but a whole lot of other people have, and love it. There are a few variations, and this blue tin one came highly recommended by Susan. From the game’s website: “LCR is a fun, fast-paced dice game. Each game includes 3 specialty marked LCR® dice, 24 playing chips and instructions. Players roll the dice to determine where they pass their chips. The last player with chips is the winner and wins the center pot.” Another one to add to your game night favorites.
Lyrically Correct – This got a few mentions, including from Aatiyah, who also recommended Black Card Revoked and Midnight Taboo (for ladies night). “Lyrically Correct is a head-to- head trivia game to see who really remembers the lyrics to some of your favorite songs.” This looks like a lot of fun for music lovers. There are music trivia questions, as well as challenges where you are asked to rap or sing lines from songs. There are also different versions, including this one that features 90’s and 00’s Hip Hop and R & B. Sounds like it could become one of your game night favorites.
Anomia – This was recommended by Kat. It’s described as “fast-paced, brain-bending, and laugh-til-you cry hilarious! Player’s flip cards until the symbols on two players’ cards match. Matching players race to give an example of the category on their opponent’s card.” I’ve never even heard of it, but looks like a fun one to try.
What Do You Meme? – Lots of recommendations for this one. It’s an adult party game for meme lovers. You compete with your friends and family to create the funniest memes; and do it by using one of your dealt caption cards to caption the photo card in each round.
There were so many great recommendations for game night favorites, and here are some of them: Spades, Scattergories, Phase 10, Taboo, and Heads-Up. You can always check out our GetUp Crew Facebook page to see all the game night favorites. Enjoy!
