Woman placed on leave after viral video accusing black man of threatening her
By now you’re probably seen the video that’s gone viral showing a woman in Central Park, NY calling the police on a black man who simply asked her to put her dog on a leash. In the phone call, she told police that an African American man was threatening her because he was recording her. In the meantime, she was also accused of animal cruelty as in the video you can see her jerking her dog and choking him. According to the woman who was identified as Amy Cooper, she says her actions were unacceptable and offered an apology to the man and his family.
She has since been placed on administrative leave from her job:
“We take these matters very seriously, and we do not condone racism of any kind,” read a statement from Franklin Templeton.
“While we are in the process of investigating the situation, the employee involved has been put on administrative leave.”
Also, she has surrendered her dog: “As of this evening, the owner has voluntarily surrendered the dog in question to our rescue while this matter is being addressed,” Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue said in a statement.
