Rite Aid is closing more than 150 stores after filing for bankruptcy this week. Three of those locations are here in New England.
Rite Aid filed bankruptcy court documents on Monday which reveal the 154+ locations that are closing but do not give dates of the upcoming closures.
While New England is losing 3 Rite Aids, many other states have many more closing. California has 31 locations closing. Pennsylvania has the most closing – 39 locations will be closing shop for good in Pennsylvania.
While it’s unclear when the Rite Aid stores are expected to close, patients’ prescriptions are expected to be transferred to other pharmacies. The company is also planning to sell certain store leases, including stores in California, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington.
Rite Aid is assuring customers that it is not going out of business, and will continue to serve customers in-store and online.
