The long weekend is upon us. Memorial Day Weekend Boston. Memorial Day Weekend is here. This means the unofficial start of summer. With that being said, before we get into the heart of this post, we need to acknowledge the REAL meaning of Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a federal holiday where we honor those who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. While we mention these events and fun things to do around the city, it is important to remember what this holiday is really all about. We thank you for your service and for making the ultimate sacrifice for our country and for our freedom.
It always seems a little somber celebrating on a weekend that is meant to honor our fallen heroes. Memorial Day Weekend has turned into one for celebration and to bring on the start of summer. From barbecues, to beach outings, to picnics, to outdoor concerts, there are many different ways people celebrate the weekend. This weekend will be no different as there are many events in and around the city. It may seem overwhelming so that’s why we’re here to help. We have gone through many events and are going to show you 13 of our favorites.
Technically the weekends start on Friday and end on Sunday however when it comes to this weekend, today (Thursday) is the unofficial start of the long Memorial Day Weekend. Many of us also have the actual day (Monday) off so there are several events planned for Monday as well. We are including events that start today (Thursday) and continue into the weekend and take place on Monday. These are events that you could bring the whole family to and some that are free.
