The GetUp Crew

If you’re a Pats fan, you are waiting (im)patiently for the just-announced Patriots documentary. The Dynasty: New England Patriots will hit Apple TV+ on February 10th. The 10-part documentary series is the talk of Pats Nation with people looking forward to behind-the-scenes action, as well as getting some answers to our burning questions.

Need to know about The Dynasty: New England Patriots

The Dynasty: New England Patriots will be released on Apple TV+ on February 10th. It’s a 10-part series that promises to tell us everything we want to know about our favorite team. The series is directed by Matthew Hamacheck who is the person who directed the HBO documentary about Tiger Woods in 2021. In case you’re wondering about the source material, it’s based on the best-selling book by Jeff Benedict. It covers the Patriot’s dominance over the NFL during the 2000s.

Revelations from the Patriots documentary trailer

It looks like everyone’s going to be in this documentary. Everyone from Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick, and Tom Brady to players from the past and present. It will also feature coaches, executives, officials, rivals and more. The trailer for the series dropped a lot of gems. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready. There were some especially revealing quotes that are sure to have non-subscribers signing up for Apple TV+. Here are some of them.

  • “Aaron couldn’t separate himself from that dark side.” – Deion Branch
  • “That team won enough to become the villain.” – Michael Strahan
  • “Bill tore Brady’s head completely off.” – Randy Moss
  • “We worked for Bill, but we played for Tom.” – Danny Amendola  (I’m sure that one had a lot of people talking!)
  • “There were things that were done that can’t be undone.” – Tom Brady

No doubt this is going to be one spicy series.

Here’s the trailer…

It looks like they’re going to talk about a lot, but will they get down to the REAL questions we want answered? Here are six that we definitely want to see the series address.

  • Who did the Patriots blame for "Spygate?"

You can’t be a Pats fan and not know about the Spygate scandal. The controversy was during the 2007 season where the Patriots were found to be recording the opposing coaches’ signals during the games. It started with the Jets who were videotaped from an unauthorized location during a game. They were taping the Jets’ coaches from their own sideline during the game. Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner said it was a violation of league rules and after an investigation, Bill Belichick was fined the maximum of $500,000, and the Patriots were fined $250,000 and lost their original first-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft.

  • At what point did the team know they had something special?

By now we know that during that era the Patriots were special and running on all cylinders. But when did they actually sit back and think, “wow we really do have something special here?” Or did they?

  • Was Tom Brady actually innocent in "Deflate-gate?"

Another big scandal involving the Patriots was Deflategate. The allegations were that Tom Brady ordered the deflation of footballs that were used when the Pas beat the Colts during the 2014 AFC Championship Game. This was in January 2015. The scandal ended up with Brady being suspended for four games. The team was fined a million dollars and forfeited two draft selections in 2016.

  • What did Malcolm Butler actually do to get benched from the Super Bowl?

We need answers! Why didn’t Malcolm Butler play in Super Bowl LII? No one seems to know the answer to that one and it remains one of the great mysteries of the Patriots dynasty.

  • At what point did the Brady/Bellichick/Bob relationship start to deteriorate?

Things looked pretty happy between Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick, and Tom Brady here. So at what point did that relationship start to deteriorate? And what exactly happened? Inquiring minds want to know!

  • How did the team handle the Aaron Hernandez situation behind the scenes?

One of the biggest questions and issues about that era of the Patriots has to be Aaron Hernandez. What was going on behind-the-scenes? What were the talks that took place during that time? Based on the trailer, it looks like Aaron Hernandez will be addressed, and by some of the players.
