The Atlantic anonymously polled NBA players and asked them which team had the best fans. And guess what Celtics fans? It’s you!
The Celtics got 18% of the vote, beating out the Sacramento (12.1%). Golden State tied with New York fans at 9.7%. Not so fast though…
Boston also ranked high in the “worst fans” part of the poll, finishing 5th behind Charlotte, Detroit, Washington, and Utah.
As one anonymous player said – “They talk crazy s*** there.”
Jaylen Brown on Celtics fans
A not-so-anonymous player, Jaylen Brown, had something to say about the lack of enthusiasm in the Garden. Before the game that moved to the TD Garden for Game 7 of the conference semifinals, he called out the fans to being a little too low key.
He said, “I’m hoping that it’s gonna be loud and it’s gonna be rockin’. Celtics fans, they — y’all love to call us out, right? So I’m gonna call you guys out this time. Like, energy at the Garden has been OK at best all playoffs.”
