McDonald’s Teams Up With Nail Brand For First Beauty Collab
McDonald’s is no stranger to fashion collaborations. They have teamed up with Cactus Plant Flea Market, Crocs, the skate brand Palace, and others. Now the company is launching its first beauty collaboration. They’re partnering with Nails.Inc., a UK-based nail brand founded in 1999 by Thea Green. Nation’s Restaurant News reported that Nails.Inc. previously collaborated and partnered with companies like Froot Loops, Velveeta, Cheez-It, and White Claw.
What to expect with Nails.Inc.’s partnership with McDonald’s?
The partnership between the companies includes products such as the burger mini nail polish and sticker duo, the fries nail polish and sticker set, the McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ It” gold heart nail topper, and the I speak French press-on nails set. Additionally, the polishes include a “Big Mac Please” burger brown shade and a “Gotta Ketchup” ketchup red shade. They’re currently available on Nailsinc.com and Amazon and, in March, they’ll also be available at Target and Target.com.
Why so many fashion collabs with McDonald’s?
“McDonald’s is an incredible brand,” said designer Demna Gvasalia in a New York Times article on fashion collaborations with McDonald’s, one of which was his own with Moschino. “It’s the Louis Vuitton of food. You see it everywhere when you travel, and your heart warms up, as you know what to expect when you go in.”
In a 2019 interview with Vogue about Gvasalia’s Vetements fashion show set in a Paris McDonald’s, he said that when the Soviet Union ended in Georgia when they were kids, the first thing to open that came from the West was McDonald’s.”It was like the maker of capitalism, and all the rich people from all around would bring their kids for birthday parties. It was like the place to be!” He continued to say that they’d never seen a Big Mac or drank a Coke. “I always wanted to be able to have my own celebration in McDonald’s. And now—I can!”
The company has been a part of fashion for quite some time. In the 1980s, children’s clothing designed in partnership with McDonald’s was sold at Sears and other department stores. Later, the designer Jean Paul Gaultier created a futuristic McDonald’s uniform for the 1997 film The Fifth Element. In 2003, the model Kate Moss wore a makeshift uniform while grilling burgers in a video by the artist Tom Sachs for W magazine.

The fashion of the 1940s has influenced modern designs, emphasizing practicality and functionality. Cargo pants, boiler suits, and workwear-inspired pieces have found their place in contemporary fashion, celebrating the beauty of simplicity and comfort. The resurgence of styles from past decades is a testament to fashion’s ability to draw inspiration from history while embracing the spirit of modernity. As fashion continues to evolve, we can expect to witness more of these delightful comebacks, creating a blend of nostalgia and innovation that defines the essence of contemporary style.
