Bidding War over Nipsey Hussle Documentary
The marathon continues as a documentary about Nipsey Hussle is on the way. Netflix won a bidding war with Apple and Amazon for the film that is rumored to be in the high eight figures. The documentary will be produced and directed by Ava DuVernay. Nipsey’s estate reportedly reached out directly to Ava after her past work on 13th and When They See Us. During the awards season for 13th, Ava had recruited Nipsey as a panelist to hear his insights on how for-profit prisons were destroying inner-city communities. No word on when the documentary will be out.
