Beware of Wasps So Hostile They Closed A Park In THIS Massachusetts Town
It’s like something out of a Hitchcock movie. A surly gang of warlike wasps have taken over a quiet New England Town. These insects are so aggressive, officials had to close a park in the town center. I don’t know about you, but I have never heard of this happening. According to Boston 25, the latest report says 3 people have already been stung. So beware of wasps so hostile, they closed a park in THIS Massachusetts town.

The tiny town of Ashland has had to close off Montenegro Square in the town center, near the library. It’s currently blocked off because of the hostile wasps and bees. Becca Solomon, the town’s Conservation Agent, told Boston 25, ““They’re naturally territorial, so we always expect them to need a little more personal space,” said Solomon. “They’re exhibiting some aggressive behavior. They’re going to fly around your face like a warning — like a dog growls before they bark.” Apparently, wasps do not lose their stingers, like bees do. So, they will keep coming back for more!
Why are there so many wasps in this Massachusetts town now, and why are they so hostile? According to Solomon, it could be due to all the rain and the town did just do some work in the park. Most of the landscaping is new. She says ” they’re naturally curious creatures.” Besides closing off the park area, the town did spray, but that didn’t seem to work. Now, Ashland is trying out Yellow Jacket Traps, that they hang in the trees. They are hoping this works.
For those who are allergic, this is a potentially very dangerous situation. And with school back and the library right across the street, residents are worried. Resident Hally Quinones told Boston 25 News, “You open my door they fly right in the house. They’re just everywhere, you can’t even go outside.” It seems these insects have become real pests! And the talk of the town.
