There is a new immersive 3-D dining experience right here in Boston. It’s inside The W Hotel in the theater district and it’s a fun, creative and delicious night out. I was lucky enough to be a guest during a soft opening media night with my friend, food blogger Armani Thao (@forkingwitharmani).
The experience is the brainchild of Tablemation Studios. They have teamed up with Hollywood writers and animators to make your table and food come to life during your dinner. They have multiple locations and different adventures. Last night, we experienced “Nya & Ned Save the World” while feasting on some delicious creations.
The small room where the animation takes place is located in the back one of The W Hotel’s fabulous dining rooms. Tables of four are set up so Armani and I were seated with another couple, Chloe and her guest (@bostonbychloe). When we sat down, our place settings were customized with our names on them and we received a short introduction over the loudspeaker. We were able to order cocktails and drinks for a separate fee, while the diner itself was a prefixed menu.
Each course is preempted by a visually stunning animated movie right on your table and plate. The story is an intro to the meal that’s coming and when done, servers bring out the course for the entire room. Our first course: Crispy Ahi Tuna “Tempura” with Sambal Aioli and Black Garlic Honey. The second course: Seared Filet Mignon Served Medium Rare with Balsamic Jus & Homemade Braised Beef Sacchetti with Curried Carrot. Each of these courses come with wine pairings. And the third course: Traditonal Sabayon with Mixed berries, Macaroon, Whipped Cream. All were delicious and I would highly recommend.
Hours of operation are Wednesday – Saturday 5:30-7 then 8:30-10. Reservations are a MUST. You can make them online at Open Table.
