Two Drivers Arguing After Traffic Accident Crop Shot Of Crash.

How safe are America’s drivers? How bad are America’s drivers? According to the website www.consumeraffairs.com, there is one Massachusetts city that is sitting pretty on the list of the country’s safest drivers. That city is Lynn, Massachusetts. Lynn lands at #6 in the entire country for the safest drivers. The information is based on the number of crashes in each city and apparently, Lynn has a record low number of accidents.

As far as worst drivers in America, there were no Massachusetts cities that made the list. However, there is one New England city that made the list. Hartford, CT landed at #16 on the list receiving a crash score of 41.5. Crash score is determined according to total car crash fatalities per 100,000 people, number of fatal crashes due to bad driving per 100,000 people, number of fatalities due to positive blood alcohol content per 100,000 people and number of fatalities due to speeding per 100,000 people.

Before we give you the rankings of both safest and worst drivers in America, let’s take a look at what makes one a bad driver to see if we can take a look at our habits and make some changes. Aggressive driving is rampant in Massachusetts, especially in Boston. Try exercising some patience and not being so aggressive. Making improper turns, erratic lane changes and passing where prohibited are examples of what constitutes a bad driver. Many of these practices are the norm for the Boston area driver which makes it interesting that Boston isn’t on the list.

Consumer Affairs also listed ways to stay safe around bad drivers. So the next time you’re driving around Hartford, make sure you use your turn signal, stay calm and report any aggressive driving. That way, we can all stay safe. Here is the list of the best and word drivers in America.
