The iPod Touch will be no more. That means the last ever iPod model will cease to exist after 22 years in production. The iPod was invented back in 2001 and it officially brought us from the CD generation into the world of streaming. “Music has always been part of our core at Apple, and bringing it to hundreds of millions of users in the way iPod did impacted more than just the music industry — it also redefined how music is discovered, listened to, and shared,” Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said in a statement. By mid-2007, more than 100 million iPod deviceshad been sold. Once iPhones were created, it started to bring less of a need for the iPods.
