There is no shortage of fun fairs and festivals around here in the summer and fall. Recently one New England State fair ranked as one of the best in the country! The concerts, carnival rides, animal exhibits, food, agriculture and fun all helped to give The Big E in Springfield that status it deserves. This New England fair ranks as best in our country.
Wide Open Country, ranked the nation's top fairs and named the Minnesota State Fair as #1. The Big E came in at #14 out of 20. The site did recognize the popular Springfield fair the largest fair in New England. And they specifically mentioned the food, saying they have “just about every kind of food you can imagine,” according to MassLive.
Since 1917 The Eastern States Exposition (better known as The Big E) has been bringing New Englanders together for entertainment and education. It's "America's Premier Exposition" and the world's only multi-state fair, as it represents all 6 New England states. As you probably know, the Big E also attracts big names in entertainment. Today, more than one million people will pour through the gates at the annual 17 day event.
This year you can see national acts ranging from John Fogerty, to Zedd, Chris Young, Third Eye Blind and many more! The Sam Adams Beer Garden and the Big E Bakery are back. And hey, you don't want to miss the Circus Spectacular, The Big Parade, and all the fabulous food. Of course there are rides, competitions, agricultural and horticultural displays and events. It's all just a part of what makes The Big E one of the best in the U.S. This one New England state fair ranks as one of the best in the country.
The official start of summer is a little over a month away, June 21. However, it's mid May which means it's the unofficial start of fair season in Massachusetts. We love our fairs here. Fairs mean amazing food, fun rides, games, family time and so much more. There are different types of fairs in Massachusetts as well. From sheepshearing festivals to apple blossom festivals to music festivals, we have it all here in Massachusetts. In general, the first fair of the season takes place toward the end of May and continues all the way through November. But pay attention because each fair has an extremely different theme. One may be more family friendly than another. One may have different types of food. The point is, there are certain benefits for each fair so you should definitely make sure they have what you're looking for before you go.
Oh and we can't forget about the food at the fair. From corn dogs, to fried oreos, to cotton candy and fried dough, these fairs will have it all. We have listed the date and location of each fair and the website as well. Make sure you check each website for directions, parking information, admission costs and more.
