If you’re planning on going to  TD Garden anytime soon, you better plan ahead. They’ve just announced a new bag policy that will most likely affect what you were planning on bringing. The new bag policy went into effect on Saturday and essentially allows bags no bigger than a postcard. As you can expect, fans were not happy about the change. Here is the new policy outlined and why the change was implemented.

According to the TD Garden website, the bag limit is 6 inches long, 4 inches tall and 1.5 inches thick. There will be exceptions to the bag rule. Proshop bags, medical bags, and diaper bags will still be allowed. If you do have a bigger bag, never fear. You can check your bag for a $15 fee with The Mobile Locker Company located at Legends Way.

The reason for the new bag policy was to coincide with new security screening technology. Waltham based Evolv Technology uses sensors and artificial intelligence technology to search for weapons. This technology is already being used in other venues. This news was obviously not greeted very well by fans who felt blindsided this weekend.

  • @JeffCam63160680 actually has a solution for you

Jeff has a solution. If you can find something at the Pro Shop for less than $15, the cost of the locker fee, go get it. Then you can get a bigger bag to store it in because Pro Shop bags are allowed. Brilliant idea Jeff.

  • @MaryMurdo says the move pretty much only affects women

Since women are pretty much the ones who carry purses that big, Mary says they will be the ones affected the most by the new policy. She agrees she thinks that it is a terrible move. What do you think? Are you a woman in favor of the change?

  • @vford167 wonders if this will keep people away

Will this new bag policy keep people from the Garden? Probably not. Especially if people know the bag policy ahead of time. But who knows?

  • @jazmeen711 not everyone is upset about it

Seems as if Jazmeen is okay with it. If it’s a measure put in place to keep us safe, why not? She definitely seems to be in the minority here. But then again the loudest are the ones complaining.

  • @kgybruins46 says an email did go out with a warning

Allegedly, an email was sent out about the policy Wednesday. Clearly most did not see it. Or maybe it was ignored. Either way, there were many unhappy people.

  • @bondcliff thinks this is all about stopping the sneaking of snacks

Do you sneak snacks into stadiums? If so, this will end that. Bondcliff seems to think this is the Garden’s way of policing that. It will definitely prevent it that’s for sure.
