Your Highway Exits Are Changing. Don’t Freak Out
We all know Boston drivers freak out and forget how to drive when it rains (you know you are.) This ain’t gonna help.
All your highway exits are changing numbers. Begin to panic in 5…4…3…2…1
Beginning this Summer, Mass DOT, the folks who brought you the Big Dig and the Zipper Lane will start changing our highway exit numbers as part of a new federal mandate.
It’s an OCD nightmare! They won’t be in sequential order! Actually, some are close to what they used to be, and some are completely different. They’re renamed based on a national mileage-based system and the transportation talking heads say it will make navigation and calculating distances between exits easier.
Of course, the rest of the country has already dealt with this. We Massholes are one of the last 3 states to do this. In our defense, we were busy dealing with a much bigger crisis: the end double-cupping at Dunks.
You can see all the new exit numbers here. Luckily, you’ll never really miss your exit because the congestion only allows you to go 15 MPH anyway.
Good luck. Keep calm and Waze on.
